Patsy Dickey papers, circa 1940-2007.

The collection consists of the papers of Patsy Dickey from circa 1940 to 2007, including correspondence, drawings, photographs, printed material, and writings. The Dickey family correspondence includes letters between James Dickey and Patsy, in addition to letters from Maxine Dickey, and Christopher Dickey to his cousins. The family correspondence provides extensive documentation of James Dickey's trip to England with his young family in 1962. Patsy Dickey's personal correspondence includes letters from many notable southern writers, including Virginia Spencer Carr, Pat Conroy, and Anne Rivers Siddons, among others. Photographs include images of James Dickey by himself as well as with Patsy and others, including his daughter, Bronwen. The printed material consists of two articles by Patsy Dickey, articles by James Dickey, and other collected material. The majority of the printed material consists of articles and clippings about James Dickey collected by Patsy Dickey. Writings include drafts of essays, published and unpublished, by Patsy Dickey, primarily about her brother-in-law.

Born in 1936, Siddons was raised in Fairburn, Georgia. Aftr graduating from Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now Auburn University, in 1958, she took a staff position with "Atlanta" magazine. She signed a book contract with Doubleday and her first book, "John Chancellor Makes Me Cry," was published in 1975.
